Whenever I travel to California I’m always tempted to get on a dive boat and head out to the Channel Islands National Park. I got that chance on my last trip out west and spent 2 days floating around Anacapa Island. The colors and diversity of marine life never fail to impress me.
This beautiful location has an extensively mapped cave system and is a regular training site for all levels of cavern and cave divers.
Cave diving at Jug Hole, AKA Blue Hole Spring, Ichetucknee Springs State Park, Florida. Jug is an extremely pretty cave with a short (700ft) cave penetration, but a lot to see in a short distance!
A cave dive with a KISS Sidewinder rebreather swimming upstream in the gorgeous Cow Springs.
Charles Spring is a real hidden gem. A sidemount-only bedding plane acts as a gatekeeper into this cave, with over 2000ft of surveyed tunnels beyond, all at an average depth of 17ft!
This is a less well-travelled cave system yet it can be stunning when conditions are right.

After a long season of flooding the Suwannee river finally receded and we can access many river caves and springs . This is my first look this year at Charles Spring, it’s a little silty but the lines are intact and it was quite an enjoyable dive.
